That being said, we hope you have fun here! That's its main purpose.  :-)

Jehovah doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called

We don't change the "Word of Jehovah", the word of Jehovah changes us.

A young brother was discouraged in his attempts to read and remember the Bible. He said, "It's no use. No matter how much I read, I always forget what I have just read."

A wise elder replied, "Take heart. When you pour water over a sieve, no matter how much you pour, you don't collect much. But at least you end up with a clean sieve."

For centuries people believed that Aristotle was right when he said that the heavier an object, the faster it would fall to earth. Aristotle was regarded as the greatest thinker of all time, and surely he would not be wrong. Anyone, of course, could have taken two objects; one heavy and one light, and dropped them from a great height to see whether or not the heavier object landed first. But no one did until nearly 2,000 years after Aristotle's death. Legend has it that in 1589 Galileo summoned learned professors to the base of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Then he went to the top and pushed off a ten-pound and a one-pound weight. Both landed at the same instant. The power of belief was so strong, however, that the professors denied their eyesight. They continued to say Aristotle was right.

This illustrates what is going on in the world today. You could show the terrible ravaging effects of AIDS and people will have promiscuous sex anyway. You can show someone a diseased liver and cancerous lungs and people are going to abuse alcohol and smoke regardless of the facts. If only someone would just climb to the top of the tower and push off a ten-pound argument and a one-pound argument and just see which reaches the ground first. That would finally prove who is right and who is wrong. But then we are reminded that when Galileo did that no one believed him. Even with the authority of obvious visible proof, i.e. the two weights reached the ground at the same time, the professors did not believe. Most people are going to believe what they have always believed regardless of the facts.

At times we realize our brother has something against us. We can rush to him and try to solve the problem before we get the facts, or be like the fellow who took the night job at the dynamite factory. He said, "Sometimes it is better to curse the darkness than light the wrong candle." It is better to get the facts first. This will illuminate matters, so that we can tell the difference between wicks and fuses!!

Jehovah loves everyone, but prefers "fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts"!

When feeling down we should remember by knowing Jehovah we're too blessed to be depressed

There was once a teenage boy who was deeply interested in scientific subjects, especially astronomy. So his father bought him a very expensive telescope. Since the young fellow had studied the principles of optics, he found the instrument to be most intriguing. He took it apart, examined the lenses, and made detailed calculations on the distance of its point of focus. The youth became so absorbed in gaining a technical knowledge of the telescope itself that he never got around to looking at the stars. He knew a lot about that fine instrument, but he missed seeing the wonders of the heavens.

As Christians, to know all the facts and figures contained in the Bible is not the end for which Jehovah has given us this Book. The purpose is that we might see the Truth through it and have a close personal relationship with Him.
